The UK should stay away from most Western countries are different now withdraw it, because countries like Australia, New Zealand and Canada have started for some time, for any woman born after 1948 are not entitled to a pension until the age of 65.
In many European countries, however, is the lower age limit for men and women.
The idea of a later retirement age for women first ones were, because women are usually (not always) younger than their husbands, as men go into retirement at 65, he thought his wife had had to be at home taking care of them and after retirement.
Therefore, women have had the retirement age, allowing them to be at home to make for their husbands care.
Because at this moment in history (and today), most providers of home care of the disabled old or sick women, makes sense.
